about
The dance performance "The Tale of Kings" is dedicated to the amazing and little-known love story of MK Čiurlionis and Sofija Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė and the friendship of two souls.
Director-choreographer Anželika Cholina's dance performance "The Tale of Kings" is dedicated to the story of the love and creative partnership of MK Čiurlionis and Sofija Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė, the friendship of two souls. Using the language of neoclassical and contemporary dance, featuring exclusively MK Čiurlionis' music, and preserving the composer's authentic biographical facts, it tells the story of the special partnership between two prominent Lithuanian historical figures.
"A sense of responsibility is necessary to ensure that a performance on a national theme is not only of high quality from an artistic point of view, but also objective and respectfully reflects the topic at hand," says A. Cholina. "Therefore, I will strive to recreate and introduce the viewer to one of the most beautiful Lithuanian love stories in the most authentic way possible, the indescribable friendship of two souls between MK Čiurlionis and S. Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė, which unexpectedly broke off, but never ended and remained in Lithuanian history as an unusual and therefore exceptional example of a partnership between two artists."
