It's hard not to fall in love with Ben - his hipster look, witty, accurate, but not offensive jokes. His green glasses, love of animals and ability to please everyone without being a sycophant, set him apart from everyone else. However, when you're 12, a million questions arise: "Am I "cool" enough?, "Do girls like me?", "What if...?" etc. Ben Pipetka, has just entered the world of adolescence and now he has a few questions in his head that no one ever answers normally.
After the summer holidays, all the classmates became somehow “cool”. The boys are no longer children with whom you can play in the yard, and the girls… they have become… well… beautiful… especially Klara… In short, quite a chaos… Ben lives with his mother… without a father, he raises a monkey at home, plays rap at school with his friend Erik, and most of all, Ben loves to EAT! Another of his passions is cooking – only in the kitchen does he feel like himself and constantly treats himself and his mother who has returned from work with the most delicious dishes, and the most beautiful song of his band is called “Ryju tave, životšie”. Music is a part of his life, and the lyrics of the songs reflect all his emotions.
Everything would be great if it weren't for Ben's overweight. His weight has never been a problem for him, but the whole class makes fun of him... especially those two "half-witted" Clara brothers. Even the school nurse says "you should pull yourself together." And how can you pull yourself together when the most delicious thing in the world - food - suddenly becomes your enemy? Therefore, Ben has to choose between his two greatest all-encompassing passions: his love for food and his feelings for Clara. Ben decides to take drastic action - he starts to go on a diet. Maybe this can change the situation. And even win the heart of Clara, the girl of his dreams...
It's clear that not everything in Ben's life goes according to plan, but in the end Ben realizes that it's not how you look that matters, it's how you feel.
Optimistic and ironic, sincere and motivating, the story encourages young people not to give up even when life turns into an endless test - painful bullying from peers, depression, unsuccessful first love, eating disorders - and where to get that motivation from to learn to live with it all, accept your flaws and find a way to feel good, despite any difficulties.
