Baltic Jazz Trio is a collaboration of three prominent jazz artists from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Baltic Jazz Trio's music is elegant, fresh and characteristic of the Baltic region. Baltic trio musicians are one of the main figures of jazz music in their countries.
Baltic Jazz Trio was born in 2008. During the Baltic Culture Week in Paris, France. The trio also performed at the Ottawa Jazz Festival in Canada, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in Germany, the Vilnius Jazz Festival, the Birštonas Jazz Festival in Lithuania, the Via Baltica festival in Liepaja, Latvia, the Korzo Theater in The Hague in the Netherlands, and the Vanemuine concert hall in Tartu, Estonia. in 2022 the trio performed in the USA, where they held several concerts at the Kennedy Center in Washington on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Baltic countries and the USA.
The trio released two albums - "Baltic Saga" and "Centerary" - with the music of the great Baltic composers Arvo Pärt, Pēteris Vaskas and Mikalojaus Čiurlionis.
Dainius Pulauskas – keyboardist and composer. He leads more than one team he has assembled. The most important of them is the Dainius Pulauskas Group, with which he released 9 albums, participated in jazz festivals all over the world - in Europe, Asia, Africa and America. Dainius Pulauskas has won many awards for his activities.
Toivo Untas is known as one of the best double bass players in Estonia. He played with famous international jazz artists, participated in many international jazz festivals. Untas plays in the symphony orchestra of the Estonian National Opera, is a member of the jury of several international competitions, a music teacher, and the organizer of the annual festival "Jazz Time" in Sillamäe, Estonia. He played on more than 30 album recordings. Māris Briežkalns has played over 60 music albums and is the leader of the Māris Briežkalns Quintet. He has performed and given masterclasses in many countries including the UK, France and Germany. Briežkalns is the artistic director of the festival "Rīgas Ritmi" and the competition of jazz artists "Riga Jazz Stage". He heads the Latvian Radio's sound recording studio, was the artistic director of the Latvian Radio Big Band for many years, and also produced the European Jazz Orchestra in 2018. Briežkalnas was awarded the Order of Three Stars (Triju Zvaigžudenis), which is the highest civilian order awarded for services to Latvia.
