May 12 a referendum will be held on the preservation of the Lithuanian citizenship acquired by birth by acquiring the citizenship of another state friendly to Lithuania. With the consent of the citizens of Lithuania, Article 12 of the Constitution would be amended, and with that amendment the Lithuanian citizenship would be preserved for the existing citizens of the Republic of Lithuania, after they acquire the citizenship of states friendly to Lithuania.
