Birštonas and Elk launch an international project to promote a joint Lithuanian-Polish border region tourism product - workation
Preparatory work has been underway since December 2024. The year-long international project aims to promote the standard tourism product of the Lithuanian-Polish border region - the workation. In this way, the two cities aim to strengthen the role of culture and sustainable tourism in the region's economic development, social inclusion and social innovation.
The project will include seminars and training sessions, an exchange of experience and knowledge between the project promoters, the development of a catalogue guide for probationers hosts, the creation and international promotion of a familiar brand for probationers hosts, and the dissemination of workation services.
The project's total value is EUR 159 592.50, of which EUR 127 674.00 will be financed by the European Neighborhood Instrument Interreg VI-A Lithuania-Poland Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2021-2027. The Birštonas Tourist Information Centre's share of the project funds amounts to EUR 70 417.50, of which the European Union finances EUR 56 334.00.
