The importance of the mineral spring is also reflected in the resort's coat of arms: the blue field depicts a fantastic golden fish with silver teeth, with a silver jet of water flowing from behind. Until the construction of Kaunas HPP in 1959. a small sculpture of a whale from which mineral water flowed from its mouth marked the source of the spring Vytautas. However, as the Nemunas water level rose, the sculpture, which became a symbol of the resort, came under water. The legendary whale was reborn in the resort's coat of arms (by Arvydas Každailis). Fantastic fish spilling from the back is like a whale on which the resort's past and future rest. The President of the Republic of Lithuania approved the coat of arms of Birštonas in 1995. August 21.
