On the weekend, Birštonas will light the Christmas tree and open the season of festive events: a month full of music, art and Christmas magic

The streets of the resort will be illuminated by a traditional parade of airmen, the participants of the celebration will be greeted by Santa Claus, performers Martynas Kavaliauskas and Gebrasy, and the sky will be decorated with an impressive laser show.

"Christmas in Birštonas resort is always welcome, hopeful and cozy. This year's slogan - "Make your wish come true in Biršton!" - reminds us that December is a time of miracles. I believe that the good spirit of the resort and the festive mood will envelop and warm everyone, and Birštonas will become a place where wishes come true. For this, we have prepared a rich festive program that will combine art, music and the joy of the community", says the mayor of Birštonas municipality, Nijolė Dirginčienė.

The lighting of the resort's fir tree is traditionally unconventional

On Saturday, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony will begin with the Christmas caravan, which will consist of a column of airmen, the symbol of Birštonas resort. The airmen's parade will present an impressive fire spectacle to the guests of the resort. In addition, Santa Claus will arrive in a Christmas caravan directly to the place of the celebration, J. Basanavičius square, and will be helped by the performers Martynas Kavaliauskas and Gebrasy to create an upbeat mood during the celebration. A special program will await the little participants of the festival, and the sky of the resort will be illuminated not only by the sparkling resort tree, but also by an impressive laser show.

The main Christmas tree of the resort will be decorated with many white light bulbs this year, and it will be surrounded by small forests of Christmas trees and lanterns creating a magical atmosphere. Such Christmas tree groves will be located throughout the city. In Kneipa Park, there will also be a festive space with illuminated arches, so there will definitely be places to admire and make memories with the family. The 11-meter-high natural green curtain was donated to the city by a person from the village of Kernuvii in the municipality of Birštonas, and it will delight the guests and residents of the resort until January 6, 2025.

December is the month of meetings and events

Traditionally, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony will start the season of festive events and offers at the resort. Art lovers will be interested in the exhibition of religious art "Gloria Deo" and the exhibition of photographic works "Almanach 2024", exhibited in Birštonas Kurhaus. The renovated Birštonas Museum invites you to see the exhibitions "Artists' Vacation Between the Wars" and "Between Chaos and Clarity". On December 26-27, families are invited to visit the "Christmas Sugar Fairy" education and learn the features of sugar molding.
Music fans will have a unique opportunity to enjoy concerts of various genres: from jazz to nostalgic songs by Stasios Povilaitis. On December 12, there will be a jazz concert in Birštonas (K. Osgood, S. Kjaergaard and L. Mockūnas), on December 14, the international musical "Baltican Show". Also, in the last month of the year, the voices of Rūta Šciogolevaitė and Oneida Kunsunga and Liepa Mondeikaitė will be heard in the resort. December 26 - an evening of songs by the legendary Stasios Povilaitis with Liudus Mikalauskas and Egidijus Bavikins.
The festive period is also colored by theater events. The audience is waiting for the director. Antanas Obcarska's play-comedy "Open couple", which is best described by the words: husband, wife, marriage, and on December 31 - additional director. The play "Seniors" by Roland Kazl. This is a warm and open story about old age, which is sensitively and playfully told by well-known Lithuanian theater actors.

One of the most important questions at the end of the year: where to welcome the New Year? There will certainly be no shortage of places to start 2025 in a fun way in Biršton. According to Rūta Kapačinskaitė, director of the Birštonas tourism information center, the resort's sanatoriums and spa centers have prepared exceptional New Year's programs: from discos and musical parties to festive dinners, promising extraordinary gourmet moments. "For everyone according to taste - that's how I would describe this year's festive offers. The resort's accommodation facilities are ready to welcome guests both for a quiet, relaxing vacation with the family and for stylish parties with friends," says R. Kapačinskaitė.
