The winners of the Lithuanian student futsal championship will be announced in Biršton

A total of 8 teams, divided into regional groups, competed in the 2024 championships, which started on February 5 in Kaunas. The title of national champion is defended by Klaipėda University, which it won last year in Vilnius.

After the last matches of the first round, it became clear that Klaipėda University (KU), Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Lithuanian Sports University (LSU), Vilnius University (VU) and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) entered the final tournament. Klaipėda College (KK), Vytautas the Great University (VDU) and Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) completed their performance.

The city of Birštonas celebrated its 642nd birthday last week, and this weekend it will continue the festive bustle with an intriguing sports event. 5 teams will compete for the title of Lithuanian student hall football champions. They will play in a one-round system, and the team with the most points in the final round will be the winner of the 2024 season.

The director of the Lithuanian Student Football League Vytas Jančiauskas noted that he expects a strong finish to the championship and praised the appropriate infrastructure of the Birštonas Sports Center for conducting indoor football competitions, which would allow even more local community to be involved in the future.

"When it comes to the championship, this competition is very hot, there are a lot of emotions and fans' joy or disappointment. The energy and desire of the players to win is pouring over the borders, so I would like them to continue to raise their skills, to improve and in the future to defend the honor of Lithuania as part of the national team - especially since at the moment a number of former students in the national team of indoor football represent Lithuania honorably in international competitions.

Our choice to hold the final tournament at the Birštonas Sports and Wellness Center was determined by the fact that this base was recently built and meets high standards. We want to send a message to the local youth that it is possible to play football not only in the field, but also in the hall, enjoying good emotions and results", said Vytas Jančiauskas.
